A New Direction – New Union Leadership

A New Direction – New Union Leadership

Since fall 2008, Local 73 has taken responsibility for all implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between SEIU Local 20 and The Jewish Federation of Metropolitian Chicago.

This servicing agreement reflects a plan to provide the most effective possible service and empowerment to our members in the not-for-profit social service sector in Illinois and Northern Indiana.

Local 20 has merged into Health Care Illinois and Indiana (HCII) representing workers at large institutions.  Local 73 represents public sector and non-profit workers dedicated to social service work.  By assigning two full-time reps to the Jewish Fed and other social service agencies, Local 73 will assure a systematic and accountable approach to those agencies.

Since the Jewish Fed relies in part on public funding, Local 73’s experience with the Illinois public sector can be put to work for you!  Jewish Federation workers are currently paying dues to HCII. However, we look forward to Jewish Federation members voting to become Local 73 members in the near future.
