Local 73 Supports IMRF Pension Equity

SEIU asks for Penion Fairness

Sewer Use The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) represents thousands     of municipal school district support workers, county workers, and the workers of other governmental bodies.
Unfortunately, IMRF recipients are not equal to their fellow public workers in the SURS and SERS pension systems. Both SERS and SURS have recently given their members pension formula increases. But IMRF pension members have not recieved a formula increase for 40 years. This is more than injustice; it is a gross disregard for the future of these employees and their families.
SEIU asks for Pension Fairness. SEIU supports  a modest increase in the IMRF formula to 2%. This would bring IMRF recipients close to the benefit plans of the SURS and SERS pension systems.
SEIU will ask the General Assembly to make IMRF pension equity a priority for the next session. We are asking legislators for their support in this effort.
