Local 73 leaders attend Wounded Warriors cruise
On Wednesday August 12, SEIU Local 73 President Christine Boardman and Vice President Phil Martini spent an evening cruising Lake Michigan in honor of our Wounded Warriors.
The event raised funds to assist military personnel who were recently injured in service to the United States.
Dozens of these brave fighting men and women and their families were on hand to kick-off a multi-day Adaptive Sports Camp being held in conjunction with the Chicago Air & Water Show.
Boardman and Martini are committed to supporting the needs of our soldiers, through the efforts of the Employer Partnership Initiative and the Helmets to Hardhats program for our Veterans, Reserve and National Guard.
Local 73 also supports the efforts of the partnering organization, Wounded Warriors, a program that assists severely wounded and disabled Veterans across the country.
Employer Partnership Initiative/Helmets to Hardhats is a national program that assists in transitioning our active military personal into gainful career opportunities in the civilian sector.
"We have spent billions of dollars on their military training ... we must help transition those skills into gainful career opportunities as they return home from honorable service to this great country." said Boardman.
On September 10, Boardman is participating as a Co-Chair for a fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors program.
The fundraiser will be held at Dick’s Last Resort, a legendary Chicago restaurant at 315 N. Dearborn.
The venue has been generously donated for the evening by CEO Steve Schiff.
