Protesters flood Springfield
to push for fair, sustainable budget

Springfield
February 17, 2010

Today, SEIU members and staff were among the more than 1,000 members of the Responsible Budget Coalition who traveled to the state capitol in Springfield to remind lawmakers that they must pass a sustainable budget this year.
At large rally in the rotunda -- followed by individual office visits -- the protesters reminded their representatives that no part of their job is more important than passing a budget that protects the health, education, and well-being of Illinois' citizens. And doing so will require new revenue.

Questions? Concerns? Issues?
Call the Member Resource Center

As part of a dynamic 2.2 million member international Union, our social service units can benefit from lessons learned and models developed by other locals of SEIU.  An important new innovation is the Member Resource Center (MRS).
The MRC provides full time access to information and advice by knowledgeable staff through a call center.  This means that if you have a question relating to your particular contract you can always talk to someone who can access the contract, respond to your question and make sure that your Union representative (field organizer) is aware of your call so that they can follow up on the problem.
This process allows quicker response times for members, stewards and worksite leaders.
The MRC is helping your representative to better serve you, visiting sites, investigating working conditions and working with you.
It also allows the rep to do more organizational and educational training sessions for all members who work our Social Services units.
To reach the Member Resource Center call 1-312-588-7630 or 1-888-734-8573.
